Usage Time
BIOCAL is used when there is a maximum need for photosynthesis and calcium requirements in plants.
BIOCAL is a leaf fertilizer produced using a nano-technological method called Tribomechanical Activation (TMA), which processes minerals into micro-particles ranging from 0.1 µm to 2 µm. These micro-particles are easily absorbed by plants. Within the leaves, BIOCAL particles break down, releasing CO₂ and other nutrients. The low CO₂ content in normal air (0.03%) hinders the achievement of optimum photosynthesis levels in most agricultural production. Under suitable temperature conditions, with sufficient nutrient and water supplementation, maximum photosynthesis occurs at approximately 0.1% CO₂ level.
Preparation of BIOCAL Solution
- It is more effective to use water with a temperature similar to the plant's temperature when preparing the BIOCAL solution.
- Fertilization applications for plant nutrition should be done before BIOCAL application to enhance its effectiveness.
- BIOCAL applications in the late afternoon are more effective than those done at other times of the day.
- The most effective results in BIOCAL applications are achieved with a dosage of 2-5 g per liter of water. Repeated applications of BIOCAL are more effective than single applications.
- To prepare the BIOCAL solution, soak BIOCAL in water and stir every 5 minutes. After 15-20 minutes, the solution is ready for application.
- Mixing BIOCAL with other chemicals or plant nutrition solutions does not reduce its effectiveness.
- The plant does not need to be actively growing for BIOCAL to enter the plant.
- The use of spraying equipment that creates droplets with a diameter smaller than 1mm increases the effectiveness of BIOCAL.
- BIOCAL application reduces the need for fertilization in plants.
BIOCAL Application on Seeds
BIOCAL enhances the germination power of all types of seeds and makes them resistant to biotic and abiotic stresses. To use BIOCAL for seed germination, soak the seeds in water, then place them in BIOCAL solution and mix. Afterward, sow the seeds in the seedbed. This application not only increases germination power but also protects the seeds from bacterial, fungal, and insect attacks.
BIOCAL Application for Heat Stress
BIOCAL makes plants more resistant to hot and cold temperature stresses. It eliminates photosynthesis depression on hot days, allowing the plant to perform maximum photosynthesis throughout the day. It minimizes water loss and promotes plant growth. In autumn, a single application of BIOCAL at a dosage of 0.5% (5 grams per liter) after leaf shedding increases the dry matter content within the cells, resulting in less water and higher resistance to freezing. It also increases ion concentration within the cells, enhancing resistance to cold and frost.
BIOCAL Application to Promote Earliness
To promote early harvest in early varieties, BIOCAL applications can be made at a dosage of 0.5% every 15-20 days from bud burst. This can advance the harvest by approximately 7-10 days. Early ripening is advantageous for greenhouse vegetables, grapes, apricots, almonds, and other early varieties. In deciduous fruit trees, a single application of BIOCAL at a dosage of 0.5% before leaf shedding in autumn promotes early awakening. In areas prone to frost in early spring, a BIOCAL application at a dosage of 0.5% just before bud burst enhances plant resistance to freezing and frost.
BIOCAL Application to Improve Fruit Quality
BIOCAL increases the soluble dry matter content (Brix) of fruits by approximately 2%. It improves fruit size and quality, allowing producers to target premium markets where Brix value and other quality parameters are considered. In industrial crops such as tomatoes for processing and other fruits and vegetables, higher Brix values improve processing efficiency and final product quality. BIOCAL improves fruit texture, prevents fruit cracking due to rainfall, enhances fruit structure, increases specific gravity, enhances fruit shine and attractiveness, and increases the marketable fruit ratio. It reduces water loss from fruits, prevents fruit cracking due to water stress, and extends the shelf life and storage period of fruits. It also prevents physiological damage in storage.
BIOCAL Application in Open Field and Greenhouse Vegetable Production
- Repeated BIOCAL applications at a 0.2% solution during the seedling stage improve seedling development and quality.
- Repeated BIOCAL applications at a 0.5% solution every 15-20 days after transplanting shorten the time from transplanting to harvest in vegetables.
- BIOCAL increases the soluble dry matter content (Brix) of fruits by approximately 2%. It improves fruit size and quality, allowing producers to target premium markets.
- In vegetables for industrial use, higher Brix values improve processing efficiency and final product quality.
- BIOCAL improves the quality, quantity, specific gravity, taste, and aroma of green vegetables. It increases yield per unit area and the marketable product quantity. It provides increased resistance to diseases and pests.
BIOCAL Application for Plant Recovery in Ornamental Plants and Fruit Trees
- In tree species where the crown is damaged but the root is alive due to burning, BIOCAL applications at a dosage of 0.5% to the plant trunk help the plant recover more quickly.
- In severely pruned fruit trees and ornamental plants, BIOCAL applications at a dosage of 0.5% to the plant trunk help the plant recover, promote the growth of new shoots, and initiate fruiting.
BIOCAL Application for Seedling Production and Young Plant Development in Ornamental Plants and Fruit Trees
- For seedling production from seeds, soaking the seeds in water and then placing them in BIOCAL solution before planting in the seedbed promotes seed germination and young plant development.
- For green cuttings in plant propagation, applying a 2% solution of BIOCAL every other day to the rooting medium with or without auxin enhances root formation and young plant development. Applying a 0.5% solution of BIOCAL after bud break promotes shoot growth. These repeated applications improve seedling yield and quality.
- For hardwood cuttings in plant propagation, soaking the cuttings in water and then placing them in BIOCAL solution before planting in the rooting medium enhances root formation. Applying a 0.5% solution of BIOCAL after bud break promotes shoot growth. These repeated applications improve seedling yield and quality. Applying BIOCAL powder directly to the roots, approximately 1 gram per plant, during planting increases the success rate of newly planted seedlings and promotes root development.
- Applying a 0.5% solution of BIOCAL after bud break promotes shoot growth in fruit trees and ornamental plants. These repeated applications shorten the juvenile period, promote early flowering, and enhance fruiting.
